We’ve got the skinny on the New World Sulfide update maintenance date, time and patch notes, and it’s a big content drop, to say the least.
There’s a lot to unpack here, including a new zone, revamped starting experience, new weapons, combat mechanics and more.
First though, New World will need to go down for maintenance in preparation for the Sulfide update. Let’s get into it.
The date and time for the New world Sulfide Update maintenance downtime will kick off for all regions on Tuesday, October 18th at the following times:
The estimated downtime is for around four hours.
The biggest addition this time around is the titular Sulphide Zone, which promises to be unlike any other area in Aeternum and around 2.5 times bigger than Haute-Chute. It also promises to be packed with content too including new enemies, territory and storylines to follow.
The new Ennead Expedition lets players venture into the ancient ruins to battle the Anubian Guardians and solves various hieroglyphic puzzles to gain new powers. The new starting experience will feature new quests and stories too, which is a breath of fresh air for both new and existing players looking to try out a new build.
The following New World Sulfide patch notes have been taken from the official New World website:
Sulphide is a new area unlike any other in Aeternum. About 2.5 times larger than Haute-Chute, it includes new enemies to fight, new territory to control and new stories to unfold.
Death hangs over the scorched lands of Sulphide, its thirst still unquenched, even after centuries of strife and war. It was here that the ancient Egyptians met the divine Elders and built the monuments and vast cities that were part of a flourishing civilization thousands of years ago. Their civilization has long since fallen into ruin, and few of its original inhabitants remain except for the mysterious wizard Imhotep, with whom players must work together to solve the mysteries of the desert.
The insane remnants of the Roman Empire’s 19th Legion pose Sulfur’s most immediate threat. It remains to be discovered what happened to the Romans, but they succumbed to corruption and now lay siege to the ancient ruins of a mysterious pyramid known as Akhet. They are persuaded to discover the secret of their redemption and the long-awaited resurgence of the Roman Empire.
Venture into the ancient ruins to face the vigilant Anubian guardians and solve hieroglyphic puzzles to gain new powers.
Players will explore ancient mysteries with Imhotep, confront powerful sand demons, and perhaps, if they persist, restore the rightful ruler who can finally bring order and hope to the region after centuries of chaos.
We’ve completely revamped the early levels of New World so that players who start the game or create a new character will experience brand new stories and quests. We’ve taken player feedback on the starting experience of New World into account, and made the following changes:
Shapes in the mist! Cries in the night! The daemon Baalphazu, Marquis of Dread, and his horde of ghoulish pumpkins are spreading terror across Aeternum. Help Mad Salvator on his quest to banish these dastardly horrors and earn limited-time Night Veil rewards. This event will run from Sulfide launch until November 1st. Characters must be level 35 or higher to begin the questline.
Get ready to wield a new weapon — the longsword. This blade uses both offensive and defensive stances. Adapt to different situations to survive the battle. This weapon’s two skill trees provide versatile tactics for various playstyles:
The longsword scales with both Strength and Dexterity, making it a good counterpart to many other weapons.
Adventurers can now further customize their playstyle with Heart Jewel abilities:
Charge Heart Jewels through various combat actions, such as dealing and receiving damage, blocking hits, and healing allies. Once the gems are fully charged, players can trigger an ability. Charge resets on use. Experiment and upgrade each heart gem to find your favorite.
We realized that the rapier was mostly used as an escape, which was not our intention. We want the mobility of this weapon to be used to gain tactical positioning during combat, not to escape. We also feel that it is frustrating to fight Riposte because in case of error, the user was not punished. To address this imbalance, we’ve added a dose of risk to this ability, especially when fighting against multiple enemies. We will continue to observe the rapier and make changes as needed.
