With October in full swing, the folks at Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Highland Village are primed to take care of those holiday gift ideas.

While there are other places that offer custom-designed apparel, only Big Frog has eight ways to do it; double the number, since Michelle Fischer opened the Justin Road store in May 2013.

“Having so many different options there are some basic questions we tend to ask people to guide them to the most budget-friendly decoration,” she said. “What does your image look like, including how many colors is it? What apparel material are you looking for? What type of apparel do you want and how many? How fast do you need them and do you have a budget?”

Big Frog can decorate most garments using its specialty DTG (direct-to-garment) application.

“We use a giant-sized printer like you use at home, using giant cartridges of ink that we keep here in the store,” Fischer. “Once we heat-set the image under the heat press, it becomes embedded into the fibers of the shirt. Unlike a screen print, which lays on the surface of the shirt, ours is embedded so it won’t crack or peel.”

Big Frog does handle screen printing and embroidery, which are sent to manufacturing facilities.

“We are a storefront boutique-type operation, so, luckily, we have authorized franchise facilities here in Texas, because we are such a big market here,” she said. “And we have the power of a franchise, so we can get some pretty good pricing”

While Big Frog can easily handle single-piece orders, it offers volume discounts, starting at 10-items. More options become available at higher quantities, including ultra-print plastisol transfers or custom-cut vinyl prints and rhinestone bling.

Big Frog helps businesses, schools, families, religious groups and others with their items, ranging from garments and hats, to glassware and cups, to flags, pillows, blankets plus towels to golf bags. It offers special pricing for school, religious and scouting groups.

Each month, Big Frog distributes up to 200 free white T-shirts, featuring its logo, to various groups.

Fischer employs two full-time and one part-time employee, plus occasional help from son, Destin.
