SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Cardi B had a heated exchange Wednesday with the lawyer of a man who alleges the rapper misused his likeness for her sexually suggestive mixtape cover art.
The Grammy winner battled with Kevin Michael Brophy’s lawyer, A. Barry Cappello, about his allegation in a $5 million copyright-infringement lawsuit in a federal court in Southern California. Brophy claims that he did not consent to such a use of his likeness in the 2016 artwork – which showed a tattooed man from behind with his head between the rapper’s legs.

Costa Rica defender Orlando Galo has been suspended by FIFA after testing positive for an anabolic steroid and is set to miss the World Cup in Qatar. FIFA has given no timetable to prosecute its disciplinary case. The 22-year-old Galo is provisionally suspended during the case and is facing a ban of up to four years. Costa Rica’s first World Cup game is against Spain on Nov. 23. Group E also includes Japan and Germany. Police say a bus collided with a truck on a highway in central India, killing at least 15 people. At least 40 others were injured in the accident, which occurred in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh state late Friday. Police said the bus was carrying at least 60 passengers when it rammed into a stationary truck that had just collided with another truck on the highway. Most of the passengers were laborers traveling to their homes in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh to celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.

Above-average rainfall and devastating flooding have affected 5 million people this year in 19 countries across West and Central Africa, according to a new U.N. World Food Program situation report. WFP says that's “likely to deepen the already worrisome hunger situation for millions” in the region. In Nigeria, floods have killed at least 600 people and displaced 1.3 million so far this year. The situation is similar in other parts of West Africa including Cameroon, Niger and Chad where the nation’s government declared a state of emergency after floods displaced a million people.
Japan and Australia have signed a new bilateral security agreement to reflect the deteriorating security outlook for their region driven by China's increasing assertiveness. The upgrade of the Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation was the major outcome of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s meeting with his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese in the west coast city of Perth on Saturday. The pact was first signed in 2007 when China’s rise was less concerning. It builds on a reciprocal access agreement inked in January that removes obstacles to holding joint military exercises in either country.
